The scroll of summon bat ("bat" for short) is a tier 2 conjuration scroll which summons 5-10 bats (some of which will be black bats) that attack hostile players and NPCs; it has a magic skill requirement of level 14. The scroll reads "Voco vespertilionis," or "I call bats" in Latin. Rapid use of the scroll on a single enemy can quickly surround it and produce rapid damage; this is extremely useful for fights against Skaldor or perhaps the Grand Shaman.

Details

• Summoned bats cannot be named, unlike pet bats.
• Summoned bats behave the same way as normal bats: they wander around the zone they spawn in and will attack enemies.
• Up to 5 health bars of summoned bats will appear in the top left, similarly to the health bars of allies.
• Summoned bats will disappear upon death or after about 5 hours of in-game time, displaying the message "(poof)"; they do not drop any gold or items.
• All summoned bats can be picked up and kept in the inventory. However, their behavior will never change no matter how long they are kept.
• On a new moon, it will summon black bats with a chance to summon vampire bats.
• On a full moon, it will only summon normal bats.

• The Grand Shaman commonly spawns with up to 3, but he will use them during combat.
• It drops occasionally from the Grand Shaman's chest.
• It drops occasionally from the Plague Rat's nest.
• It drops occasionally from coffins.
• It drops commonly from Skaldor's chest.
• It has about a 6.25% chance to be received from Magerlin's firewood quest.

Prices

• Lysis buys scrolls of bat summoning for 89 gold and sells them for 425 gold.
• Players buy and sell them for around 1,000 gold.
