The Desert Tomb

The Desert Tomb is a very dangerous and high level area accessible through a stone door in The Desert that can be opened only by a Skeleton Key.

It consists of triangle-shaped rooms connected by hallways. Each room has a skeleton in it. There is also a final room that consists of six skeletons, three skeleton wolves, and the skeleton boss Skaldor. In order to open the door to the boss room, two buttons in separate rooms must be pressed at the same time.

When a player dies in the desert tomb and respawns or quits the game, a hostile skeleton rises in their place. It is noteworthy that this doesn't happen if the player is under the effect of the Scroll of Resurrection.

During a new moon, the door to the desert tomb opens automatically and skeletons regularly exit into the desert.

The Crypt

This area is located at the bottom left of the tomb. The Player should be advised that the Crypt can be much more difficult than Skaldor's lair.

Within the Crypt, there are a small number of skeleton rats, along with nine shut coffins. When opened skeletons, additional skeleton rats, and occasional Liches will spring from the coffins. Several traps can also be hidden in the coffins; a cloud of poison can be triggered, or, other times, a number of embers will fly out in every direction. Be prepared to take a lot of damage, as these effects can occur simultaneously from a single coffin, and may be accompanied by several rats, a skeleton, or a Lich.

Coffins often contain valuable items and consumables, such as first and second scrolls, most types of potions (including beers and absinthe), aswell as rings of damage. A coffin containing a Lich will also hold much more valuables, and can drop third-tier scrolls of any kind. Rings of damage are also much more likely to fall from a Lich's coffin.
